element of the landscape. History, Nature and Culture merge in the
Subasio and Assisi, whose the historic nucleus is in the Park, is the
natural door.
ITINERARIES:
The visits' courses
For the form and the isolated position of the Subasio Mount, the main
roads touch its borders with the SS. 75 that links Foligno and Perugia
on the west ,with the SS. 444 Assisana that reaches Gualdo Tadino on the
north and, not far on the south-eastern side, the SS.3-Flaminia passes.
The roads that go to the Park are mainly represented by the links among
the historic centres of Assisi, Spello, Nocera and Valtopina with the
minor centres placed on the relief. These roads have principally a
touristic function as that one that links the centre of the town of
Assisi - Porta Cappuccini (Door Cappuccini)- to the Prisons' Hermitage,
to the Abbey of San Benedetto and the top of the mount.
Always in Assisi, and exactly from the Perlici door, through the SS. 444

Park, and continuing it's possible to climb till the coast of Trex, and
to reach Spello touching firstly the minor historic centres of Armenzano,
San Giovanni and Collepino.
It's very important the height road that links Assisi to Spello and that
reminds the ancient cartway track . This road that has got some
particular characteristics of panoramic view, it's followed by the
tourists who want to gain the top grasses of the Stazzi on the side of
Assisi and the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Spella on the side of
Spello.
Always along this course there are the Mortaro Grande and the Mortaro
Piccolo, some dry dolines placed near the top of the mount, used, in the
passed centuries, to produce the ice by pressing the snow and for
maintaining it till summary.
Next to these main roads, that you can run along by car, with the limits
imposed to a height road by the needs of surrounding protection, some
paths branch off and they're organised to be walked on foot or on
horsetrack, starting above all from the Villages of the Coast of Trex,
Armenzano, San Giovanni and Collepino, and permitting to gain also the
grasses on the top of the relief.
